“Jewels of the Orient” Road Motor Outing 27th – 29th July 2018

A weekend in and around stunning Scunthorpe! Following on from Planes and Boats and Trains in 2017 we bring you  - Steam Trains and Trams and Trolleybuses and a Steelworks!

Departing North Bristol at a civilised time on Friday morning we head for the National Tramway Museum at Crich. After plenty of time for rides on the trams and a good look around we head on to our hotel in Scunthorpe (Now be honest, how many of you can say you’ve stayed in Scunthorpe?)

On Saturday we initially head for the Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway for narrow gauge steam and then after lunch, hopefully, standard gauge steam as we take an extensive tour around Scunthorpe Steelworks courtesy of the Appleby-Frodingham RPS. Another night in our hotel, with the likely offer of the now traditional Group Pub Evening Meal, will in all probability be followed by Sunday.

Today we head off to Sandtoft where we find the world’s largest collection of preserved trolleybuses and The Trolleybus Museum’s biggest event of the year with plenty of visiting vehicles and other attractions. Our final visit is to the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway where we take a steam hauled ride along the length of the line and also get to tackle the fearsome 1 in 27 Ravenstor Incline – Steam hauled of course! We return to North Bristol mid-evening.

The fares, which include all road motor and train travel and museum entrances as above, two nights hotel accommodation (double en-suite room for single occupancy) but excluding ALL meals are –

Adult £165.00 Senior Citizen/Student £160.00
(Non-members supplement £10.00)

Shared (family) room £30.00 reduction/head.
Please note that meals and refreshments, and admissions other than those specified above are not included.

Bookings (on the official form only) will be accepted from 9th January 2018.
